Don't suppose you could take my Dad along. He doesn't get out much since he broke his hip last year. at 91 I don't think he will be too much of a pest whilst you are sitting out the weather at ABC waiting for the chance for your summit bid?

Hey Mary

No doubt you will be aware of such hazards as avalnaches, rock falls and frostbit etc.

But what about communication. Radios will fail, batteries will run out...

simply take two paper cups and 30'000ft of string. Tie a cup to either end of the string. Hey presto! Fool proof communication. And you can always follow the string back, should you get lost.

All the best Mary. Ignore all those who might express suprise at your choice of route. It is one of the most picturesque paths to the summit of Everest. It has some nicely positioned benches where you can enjoy the lovely views with a cup of tea from your Thermos.

You ARE taking a Thermos I presume?

There was an old lady called Mary
Whose get-up-and-go was quite scary
She vowed she'd ascend
Everest with a friend
Who was short-legged, long-eared and most hairy

Have fun and don't forget the Preparation H!

Mary, congratulations in your plucky decision to follow in the footsteps of you illustrious hero Mallory. I see you have taken steps to avoid his fate by eschewing tweed in favour of modern hi-tech clothing.

A word of advice follwing my futile attempts to organise an expedition to search for the remains of Colonel Fawcett in the Amazon utilising the hitherto untried pedalo - believe in yourself and pay no heed to the legions of doubting Thomas's out there, British pluck and vigour will always see you through to the end.

Mary

Far from me to criticise but you should be moving on from Bottley Hill. First try Pendle Hill in Lancashire moving on to the 3 Peaks of Yorkshire and then Snowden in Wales and Ben Nevis in Scotland.
Good to see your dog is taking a fruit-cake with him!!!

Hello there Mary,

It is such a plesant suprise to see someone of your generation attempting to ascend Mt Everest.

I myself am a keen outdoor enthusiast, often walking through woodland and crossing meadows and mountain streams. To any normal person, this would deem an easy task, but to me it is equal to your journey. You see Mary, I am a cripple. Due to a freak yachting accident three years ago (I cant tell left from right and steered the yacht into the rocks), and as a result, lost all of my limbs. The doctors performed a small miracle and I now have false arms which came from a Jamacian lady (very kind of her) and two left legs which were going spare.

All I can say is Mary, is my heart is with you and I wish you all the luck in the world.

All the best to Daisy to. Watch where you throw sticks though and remember to keep her on a leash.

Go for it Mary!
You can do anything you want if you really try.
You make want to make some sort of net/hood for Daisy's ears so they don't pick up lots of snow and weigh her down.
And as I tell my sons, when they're out camping/walking. don't forget to put on clean dry socks before you go to bed!
Good luck, I can't wait to see the photos!!
